ABOUT
The NYU Tandon Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers has focused on serving its
members and community for nearly 40 years. It has been our goal in the past, and will continue
to be our mission in the future, to fulfill the cultural, technical, academic, and professional needs
of our members and those surrounding us. However, to persist our tradition of excellence, we need
the support of corporations like yours that recognize the necessities of diversity both in NYU
Tandon and beyond. Therefore, we share the responsibility of bringing future leaders and
industries closer together. We have been, and always will be, dedicated to serving the members
of our organization, our community, and companies that support our programs.
Every year at NYU NSBE we host various events to promote and support the NSBE
mission statement. Some highlights from the 2018-2019 school year includes having 200 people
at our annual Black History celebration “Mercer Street,” creating new and enriching academic
workshops to support our members in getting a 3.0 minimum GPA, and making our presence not
just in Brooklyn at the engineering school but also in Manhattan where the larger NYU
community is.
This year, we definitely plan to keep the momentum going and elevate our chapter to
make a bigger mark on the NYU community. Some goals we have this year is to increase our
membership to 100 members, send 35 members fully funded to NSBE’s National conference in
March 2020, and build meaningful corporate relationships for our members for them to see the
various opportunities in the STEM industry and grow in their professional development skills.
Your sponsorship of our chapter will ensure that we uphold the goals of the mission statement
and impact the lives of those in our chapter. It will also be a benefit to you as you get to network
with our chapter whose members come from a variety of majors, backgrounds, and interests.
